OrderPaperToday – The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) in the 2017 financial calendar year remitted over N145b to the federal government as the House of Representatives passed the commission’s budget on Thursday.
The details of the budget are contained in a report laid on the floor of the House by the Chairman committee on Telecommunications, Saheed Fijabi (APC, Oyo).
According to the report, N13.6bn is for capital projects, while the sum of N27bn was approved for recurrent as N4.4bn has been earmarked for special projects.
Also, N13.9B is for the Universal Service Provision Fund (USPF) and a breakdown of the capital expenditure indicated that N9.3bn is for school support programme, N3bn for internal projects, while N602m is for Digital Bridge Institute.
As for recurrent, establishment costs would gulp N14.1bn; staff costs, N3.4bn; travel costs, N7.3bn; administration costs, N1.6bn.
