OrderPaperToday – The House of Representatives has resolved to probe the alleged red alert on human flesh found in Chinese drugs imported into Nigeria.

The move came through a motion under matters of urgent public importance raised by Mr. Johnson Agbonayinma (APC, Edo) during plenary on Wednesday.
The House want the importers and those who colluded in the importation of the said drugs be identified and prosecuted.
Raising the motion, Mr. Agbonayinma revealed that the Standard Organisation of Nigeria (SON) confirmed the receipt of the letter sent on Chinese drugs reported to be made into capsules filled with powdered flesh from dead babies.
The lawmaker expressed concern that making of drugs with human remains and consuming them are crimes against humanity, which can also lead to serious health challenges.
He said that “if immediate measures are not taken to stem the influx of these drugs and the illegal importers it will continue to endanger the lives of citizens”.
The motion scaled through but not with ease as the Chairman of the House Committee on Rules and Business, Mr. Emmanuel Orker-Jev (PDP, Benue) noted that part of the resolution the motion is seeking are already been carried out by the relevant agencies.
Committees on Healthcare Services, Women Affairs and Social Development, and Information, National Orientation, Ethics and Values have therefore been mandated to invite the Nigeria Customs, National Agency for Food and Drug, Administration and Control (NAFDAC) and National Intelligence Agency (NIA) to verify the presence of said drugs in Nigeria and report findings within four weeks for further legislative action.
