OrderPaperToday – The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mr. Femi Gbajabiamila, is set to roll out reform initiatives in line with the legislative agenda for his leadership.
Speaking to Journalists on the new initiatives, the Special Assistant to the Speaker on Legislative Matters, Mr. Nnanna Igbokwe, said the agenda is in line with Gbajabiamilia’s pursuit for effecting reforms in governance, legislative practice and critical sectors of the economy.
Igbokwe, a lawmaker of the eighth assembly, said the initiatives would be driven through the National Assembly’s Reform Roundtable.
He also said that the initiative will as expected, embrace a number of reforms tied to the Legislative Agenda of the ninth Assembly.
It will be recalled that the House had on Wednesday, July 3, set up an ad-hoc committee on the House Legislative Agenda.
The committee led by Dennis Idahosa is expected to submit its report upon resumption of the House from recess.
The committee among other responsibilities have been directed to develop a legislative plan to aid development and improve the living standard of Nigerians.
The report of the committee is also expected to proffer solutions to some of the Nigeria’s ailing challenges such as insecurity, health and unemployment.
It should also make recommendation and advocate means of improving current outcomes in agriculture, infrastructural development and the economy for adoption.
