OrderPaperToday – Senators eroded in thunderous laughter at the mention of “transmission” in a letter read by the Senate President, Bukola Saraki on Wednesday.
Saraki read a letter sent by President Muhammdau Buhari titled, “Transmission (Pauses) of the deep off shore and inland basin production sharing contracts amendment bill 2018.”
In a joking manner, Saraki read out, “Dear Distinguished Senate President, Transmission of the deep off shore.”
Senators burst out in laughter.
Saraki continued, “Let me start again. Dear Distinguished Senate President, Transmission (Pause) of the deep off shore and inland basin production sharing contracts amendment bill 2018.
“I forward there with the draft of deep off shore and inland basin production sharing contracts amendment bill 2018 for the kind consideration and passage by the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
“While hoping that the bill will receive the usual expeditious consideration and passage by the distinguished Senate, Please accept Mr. Senate President the assurances of my highest regards. Yours Sincerely, Muhammadu Buhari.”
The Senate President’s gesture of reading can be linked to a viral video of the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris struggling hard to read a speech at the inauguration of the Police Technical Intelligence Unit in Kano state.
IGP kept repeating and stuttering over words like “commission” and “transmission.”
The Police however declared that the video was doctored and not the real.
The journalist who released the video have reportedly been on the run.
