Saraki rehabilitates sacked colleague with appointment

OrderPaperToday – President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, has given appointment to former Sen. Abubakar Danladi Abubakar, to serve as his Special Adviser on Special Duties.
This was made known in a statement released by Saraki’s Special Adviser, Media and Publicity, Yusuph Olaniyonu  on Sunday.
In the statement, the appointment takes immediate effect.
It is worthy to note that Abubakar was dismissed from the Senate on 23rd of June 2017 by the Supreme Court and replaced with Sen. Shuaib Lau.
Lau had filed a suit challenging the decision of the court of appeal that had upturned his victory during the primary that he was wrongfully substituted which the Apex court upheld.
Abubakar was then asked to immediately vacate his seat and refund all salaries and allowances he received within 90 days.
OrderPaperNG could not immediately confirm if he has refunded the salaries as ordered by the court but with theis new appointment, he stands to draw wages from the coffers of the National Assembly.
The 53 year-old former lawmaker who represented Taraba North also served as Deputy Governor before his election into the Senate in 2015.
