OrderPaperToday – The Senate on Tuesday resumed after a three-week recess but adjourned shortly after sitting briefly.
The adjournment was to respect the death of a senator, Bayo Osinowo, (APC, Lagos-East), a first timer in the red chamber who died in a Lagos isolation centre after battling with complications arising from COVID-19.
In a plenary session that lasted for about eight minutes, the Senate Leader, Abdullahi Yahaya moved for the motion of adjournment after announcing the death of Osinowo who died on the 15th of June, 2020.
A minute silence was observed for the deceased and as it is the tradition of the federal parliament. It thereafter adjourned plenary till the next legislative day.
While approving the motion for adjournment, the presiding officer, Deputy Senate President, Ovie Omo-Agege, announced that a valedictory session will be held in honour of the late lawmaker and asked his colleagues to dress appropriately for the occasion.
