Senate confirms Buhari’s nominee as Chief Judge

OrderPaperToday – The Senate has confirmed the appointment of Justice Adamu Abdu-Kafarati as the Chief Judge of the Federal High Court.

Recall that President Muhammadu Buhari sent a letter requesting his confirmation on Tuesday.

It was referred to the Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Matters.

Presenting the report on Thursday, the Chairman of the committee, David Umaru (APC, Niger) stated that the nominee satisfied the requirements of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 as amended and the Senate’s Standing order.

He also declared that “there is no criminal record found against Abdu-Kafarati” and “he possesses the required qualities for the discharge of his judicial duties.”

Finally, Umaru stated that there is no petition against him as Chief Judge of the Federal High Court.
