OrderPaperToday – The Senate on Thursday confirmed the reappointment of Godwin Emefiele as Governor, Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
This happened barely hours after the senate committee on banking, insurance and other financial institutions praised Emefiele’s first tenure during the screening exercise.
In a presentation to plenary, chairman of the committee, Rafiu Ibrahim (PDP, Kwara) indicated that the nominee “understands the diverse economy of the country and has displayed profound knowledge of the continuous existence of our economy stability.”
Ibrahim also added that the CBN governor “performed credibly in his first tenure which resulted to the exit of the nation out of economic recession.”
The Senate President, Bukola Saraki in his remarks said: “We congratulate the governor on the renewal of his appointment. We wish him a fruitful five years for him to use the opportunity to provide towards ensuring that the economy of our country continues to improve.”
