OrderPaperToday – The Senate has progressed on a bill meant to empower the National Oil Spill Detection Response Agency (NOSDRA) respond as soon as an oil spill occurs in the country.

The upper chamber also passed for second reading a bill to decentralise the National Institute of Sports and allow for the establishment of zonal offices in all geo-political zones of the country.
The bill seeking to amend the 2006 National Oil Spill Detection Response Agency Act is sponsored by Senator Oluremi Tinubu (APC, Lagos) who explained that its passage will help to reduce environmental degradation.

Both the sports bill, sponsored by Senator Shehu Sani (APC, Kaduna)  and the NOSDRA one were passed for second reading on Wednesday and subsequently referred to relevant committees for further legislative action.
