OrderPaperToday – Senator Yele Omogunwa (APC, Ondo) made a rare appearance at the plenary of the Senate since 2015 to present the report of the committee on National Planning and Economic Affairs.
Omogunwa made this newspaper’s list of staunch bench warmers in the 8th red chamber with no significant bill or contribution to his name.
He presented the report today to confirm the nominees for appointment of nominees as Chairman and members of the board of National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) on behalf of the Chairman, Senator Musa Kwankwaso (PDP, Kano) who was absent.
Unaware of the procedures of presentation and making contributions, he addressed the Senate President as Mr. Chairman instead of Mr. President while fumbling with the pages of the report.
The report was eventually approved when put to a voice vote.
The proposed chairman for NBS is Kabiru Nakaura (North West) while the members are Akinola Bashir (South West), Moses Momoh (South South), Wallijoh Ahijoh (North Central), Adam Modu (North East) and Nwafor Chukwudi (South East).
Also approved by the chamber are three career ambassadorial nominees presented by the Chairman committee on Foreign Affairs, Monsurat Sunmonu.
They are: Christopher Chejina (Delta), Bukar Kolo (Yobe) and M. A Mabdul (Benue).
