OrderPaperToday – The All Progressives Congress (APC) South-South Chairmen Forum has endorsed Senator Ovie Omo-Agege for the position of the Deputy Senate President.
The chairmen however thanked the party and President Muhammadu Buhari for zoning the position to the region.
The endorsement was via a communique signed by the six States chairmen of APC from the South-South geo-polical zone which said Omo-Agege has outstanding leadership qualities and has shown capacity to attract development to the zone.
It read: “We the people of the South-South geopolitical zone of the Federal Republic of Nigeria herein represented by the APC chairmen in the six States of South-South geo-political zone congratulate you on your victory at the last presidential election. As we earnestly await your swearing in ceremony on the 29th of May, 2019, we wish to make our humble request on the zoning arrangement for the ninth Assembly.
” That, the South-South whole heartedly thank you and our great party for granting our region the privilege of producing the next Deputy Senate President of Nigeria. We assure you that this gesture would help in strengthening our great party in South-South.
“That after a careful look at the political dynamics in our geo-political zone and the zoning formula that your emergence has bestowed on  us as a people. We have taken cognizance of the senators who will represent us in the ninth assembly senate. With a sense of responsibility, we thereby convey to you our agreement to endorse senator, Barr. Ovie Omo-Agege for the position of the Deputy Senate President of the ninth assembly.
“Our choice has been majorly influenced by his loyalty to Federal Republic of Nigeria. The distinguished senator had in recent past made sacrifices in the course of his very robust defense of executive bills and positions. The South-South is not unmindful of her role in the emergence of political dynamics of our country, and the need to consolidate her presence thereto”.
