OrderPaperToday – The National and State Houses of Assembly Election Petition Tribunal on Wednesday upheld the election of Senator representing Oyo North senatorial district, Abdulfatai Buhari.
Buhari who is the Chairman, Senate Committee on Land Transport won the February 23 general polls as the candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the senatorial district.
Justice Sambo Daka in his verdict dismissed the petition, marked EPT/OY/SEN/09/2019 and filed by Mulikat Adeola-Akande and her party, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for not proving their petition beyond a reasonable doubt.
The court awarded the sum of N150,000 against the petitioners.
Also affirmed is Senator Adeola Olamilekan’s election of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as representative of Lagos west senatorial district.
A three-man panel led by Justice Kunaza Hamidu described Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)’s petition as “defective” and struck out the petition.
