Waku was a core believer of the Nigerian project- Rep Tarkighir

OrderPaperToday – A House of Representatives member, Mr. Dickson Tarkighir representing Makurdi/Guma federal constituency, has said rued the death of Sen. Joseph Waku.

He described Waku’s demise as a great loss to the country and indeed the people of Benue State.

Sen. Waku died on Sunday evening in National hospital Abuja, Federal Capital Territory Nigeria after a brief illnesses.

The Senator was elected Senator representing Benue North West district at the National Assembly from 1999 to 2003, on the platform of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

He is native of Waku village in Guma local government area of Benue state and was born in June, 1946.

Speaking to OrderPaperNG via a telephone conversation on the death of Waku, Mr. Tarkigir said he was personally pained by the death of the senator.

According to him: ” Waku’s death is a huge loss not only to Benue but the whole country. He practiced politics without bitterness and he forgave very easily. Senator Joseph Waku was a core believer of the Nigerian project. He was an outgoing person. He was a community builder and a father to all.

“Each time some thing happens in this country, he was one of those loud voices that you heard. He was a detribalized  Nigerian, so his contributions to nation building will be highly missed.  For me as a person he was a father to me and his advice was very valued in my political growth.”
