OrderPaperToday- On Wednesday, the President of the Senate, Bukola Saraki, reshuffled the chairmanship of the Committee on Police Affairs.
The former chairman was Senator Abu Ibrahim but now, Senator Tijani Kaura has been appointed as the new chairman.
He made this announcement at the close of plenary today along with other new committee chairmen.
Pursuant to these changes, OrderPaper Nigeria gathered that Senator Ibrahim was removed as the head of the Committee on Police Affairs because he has lost interest in several things relating to the committee, especially on the Inspector General of Police, Ibrahim Idris.
A source who spoke under anonymity explained to our correspondent that the Senator’s attitude is due to his loyalty to President Muhammadu Buhari.
“Since he is loyal to Buhari, he cannot go against his bid,” the source said.
“For instance, the Senate has instructed him severally on issues relating to the IGP and Police for his committee to probe but refuses to do anything.
“Even the passage of the Police reform bill has been delayed because of him.”
“He has basically shown lack of interest, concern and effectiveness in so many issues relating to Senators and the Police.”
Although, Senator Ibrahim was removed from the committee on Police Affairs, he was made the head of another committee in the Senate– Labour and Productivity.
